Every entrepreneur is not built with a high level of confidence. Entrepreneurs may be able to endure the highs and lows of their industry but what about the highs and lows of their self-esteem?
With a high chance that everyone has faced rejection at some point in their lives, it is understandable if you want to avoid further rejection in your life. But, to be successful in anything, you must be able to receive rejection and get better from it.
Everyone won’t like you, or your work, and that is ok.
If you’re an entrepreneur who lacks confidence, you may find yourself having a hard time promoting yourself, accepting compliments, or dreaming BIG.
In 2024, it’s time to overcome this.
Here are practical ways to grow in confidence as an entrepreneur:
1. Do the Inner Work
Many times a lack of confidence stems from traumatic moments of rejection in your life. With the use of therapy and free tools such as journaling and meditation, it is possible to identify what is causing your low confidence and overcome it.
2. Become an Expert
Another reason you may lack confidence in yourself or your business, is because you lack information or experience in the field.
You can try reading more books, taking a course, or getting an internship to gain more real world experience and knowledge about your industry. When you become an expert on something, it helps you talk about it with more confidence.
3. Get a Dream Partner
Find a person who is willing to push you out of your comfort zone. This person won’t let you stay stagnant. Instead, they will encourage you to showcase your work and make an opportunity even if there isn’t one.
Bonus points, if you can find more than one person committed to your growth.
4. Be Realistic
Don’t be realistic when it comes to dreaming BIG but be realistic about rejection, because it will happen.
Remember, the more you shoot your shot, the more baskets you’ll make. It’s a numbers game.
Don’t let the first rejection or hundred rejections stop you. Keep going till you make it.
Working on confidence is a smart decision for any entrepreneur.
It will take determination and intentionality. But, when you gain an unshakable confidence, you will become a force to be reckoned with and greatness will be yours for the taking.
